From Classical to Classics: University Chorus in Concert

May 5, 2008- Newark, OH- Join the University Chorus of The Ohio State University at Newark for “From Classical to Classics,” a concert featuring sacred works of classical period composers along with classic Beatles tunes. The program will take place on Tuesday, May 27 at 8 pm in Founders Auditorium at the Ohio State Newark campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The classical works of Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Michael Haydn will include “The Heavens Are Telling” (F.J. Haydn); “Ave Verum Corpus,” “Lacrymosa” from the Requiem (Mozart); and “Alleluia, Confitemini Domino” (J.M. Haydn).
Beatles selections will include “All You Need is Love,” “Imagine,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “In My Life,” “The Long and Winding Road” and “When I’m Sixty-Four,” among many other favorites.
The University Chorus is directed by Dr. Paul Sanders, associate dean and professor of music education, and is accompanied by Ms. Jackie Dawson. The Chorus performs three concerts each year and membership is open to all Ohio State Newark students, staff and faculty; Central Ohio Technical College students, staff and faculty; and participants from the surrounding community.
