The Ohio State University at Newark celebrates Convocation

Michael Medved, best-selling author, to keynote

Licking County Arts Juried Exhibition 2007August 10, 2007- Newark, OH- The Ohio State University at Newark will celebrate Convocation 2007 on Tuesday, September 18 at 11 am in the Reese Center Auditorium. Best-selling author, film critic and syndicated radio host Michael Medved will address the university community as keynote speaker. A luncheon on the Reese Center lawn will follow the ceremony. The public is welcome to attend all Convocation events

The program will open with faculty in academic regalia processing into the auditorium. Speakers will include William L. MacDonald, Dean and Director of Ohio State Newark; student trustee Josh Maccombs; John M. Berry, Director of Student Affairs and Paul Sanders, Associate Dean.

According to Ann Donahue, Director of Campus Admissions, “Ohio State Newark expects the largest enrollment ever this fall – between 2,450 and 2,500. Some 1,250 of those are expected to be new students to the Ohio State system.” She said, “The word is definitely out that this is a great place to get the benefits of a premiere research university in a smaller setting and at affordable tuition.”

During the luncheon, Mr. Medved will sign copies of his book, “Right Turns: Unconventional Lessons from a Controversial Life,” which will be available for sale.

Mr. Medved has written books on a variety of topics of national concern and has worked as a Hollywood screenwriter and movie critic, including twelve years as co-host of "Sneak Previews" on PBS-TV. He also served as chief film critic for the New York Post before launching his radio show in 1996.

Mr. Medved’s publisher, Crown Publishing Group, said, “Medved enters today's ideological fray armed with experience as, among many other things, a campaign aide for radical Democrats, a minority recruiter for police departments, a Hollywood screenwriter, a Bobby Kennedy volunteer, a teacher at religious schools, a world-champion hitchhiker, an expert on bad movies, and a veteran TV host on PBS and a British network—who declines to own a TV himself.”
