
November 5, 2007- Newark, OH- The Ohio State University at Newark is pleased to announce that Ohio State University President Gordon Gee will be among the guests at the 50th Anniversary Celebration. A community event beginning at 7 pm on Saturday, December 1, the celebration will feature music, historical displays and refreshments in the Reese Center ballroom.
Other noted guests will include Representative Jay Hottinger, Senator Tim Schaffer, Representative Dan Dodd, Newark Mayor Bruce Bain and the first Ohio State graduate to complete all of his coursework at Ohio State Newark, Tim Klingler. Proclamations will be presented by Representative Hottinger and Senator Schaffer.
The University Chorus will lead the party in traditional Ohio State University songs, including “The Buckeye Battle Cry,” “Across the Field,” and the alma mater, “Carmen, Ohio.” Music will be provided by the Newark Granville Symphony Orchestra’s Lyric String Quartet, featuring Ginny Workman, violin; Diana Jones, violin; Sharon Blaydes, viola; and Terri Smith, cello. Catering by Oxley’s will add a delicious touch to the celebratory evening.
The celebration is free and the community is invited to attend, although RSVPs are strongly encouraged for planning purposes.
