Mayoral Debate and Meet the Candidates Event
The Ohio State University at Newark and The Newark Advocate will co-sponsor a mayoral debate and “Meet the Candidates” evening on Tuesday, October 30, at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Reese Center Auditorium on campus.
Newark Democratic mayoral incumbent Bruce Bain will face Republican nominee Bob Diebold in a debate moderated by Advocate Managing Editor Michael Shearer. Questions posed to candidates during the debate will be submitted in advance by Advocate readers. In addition, Newark City Council candidates will present brief statements during the evening.
Following the debate, all of the candidates will be on hand to speak with attendees during a “Meet the Candidates” reception.
The event is free and open to the public; however, the co-sponsors are encouraging all attendees to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Licking County Food Pantry.
