The inaugural issue of Transitioning Toward the Future heralds a new vision for The Ohio State University at Newark. Retreats involving faculty, senior staff, and the Newark Board of Trustees led to the development of a new strategic plan for the campus, a plan that is nearly ready for adoption. Dean and Director William L. MacDonald said, “Our new vision ties us more closely to the university’s Academic Plan and to Ohio’s economic and educational goals, and will improve Ohio’s future by genuinely extending the Ohio State experience beyond the Columbus campus to the greatest number of Ohioans as possible.” The strategic plan will lead the University not only toward the future of our students and campus but also toward the future of Ohio.
“To fulfill our
vision,” he said, “we are taking bold steps to develop our campus to
its full potential, to broaden the learning opportunities we offer
our students, to support research that contributes to the
world-class reputation of Ohio State, and to reach out to the
communities of Ohio.”
Transitioning
Toward the Future illustrates Ohio State Newark’s
2006 accomplishments and reflects the university’s core values. “I
hope that in illustrating our progress over the past year, we have
revealed our promise,” MacDonald said. “I invite you to visit Ohio
State Newark, to affirm your membership in the campus community, and
to join us as we look toward the future.”
