Crystalline Cats

Michael Mitchell

Crystalline cats intently stare
through glassy eyes as they
pad through fragmented dreams
scattering misty sorrows
banished by sun sequined dawn
as she rises above liatris scented fields
stalking lost despair that startles
coveys of dovish hopes guarded by
diamond-cut snake rings forged in
fiery embers blanketing
the unquiet sleep of timeless
beggars greedily awaiting coinage
none can spare.
