Courses

Background

Alcira Dueñas' teaching interests range broadly across regional histories of Latin America and throughout pre-colonial, colonial, and modern times.  She teaches both the survey and upper level portions of those courses, as well as the history of women in Latin America and the modern portion of the World History survey.

Her current book project studies indigenous intellectuals in colonial Peru, and shows the ways in which they used writing, discourse, and political and social activism for social change as they transitioned to modern societies.

In the past, She has received a Fulbright scholarship to undertake graduate studies in the US, several research awards from the Tinker Foundation, The OSU College of Arts and Science, and the OSUN research grants.
