Dean/Director Ohio State Newark Associate Professor of Sociology
Dr. MacDonald conducts research in the areas of family, religion, race, and social movements. His articles have appeared in the Journal of Marriage and the Family, the Journal of Family Issues, and the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion. The National Science Foundation has funded his research on racial division over voluntary euthanasia, and in 1997 the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture at IU-PUI-Indianapolis named him a Young Scholar in American Religion. He has won several awards, including one of the Templeton Foundation's prizes for courses on science and religion, The Ohio State University at Newark Award for Scholarly Achievement, and the Barnes Award for Exemplary Teaching.
