1. The group must have at least five students willing to commit time and effort to the formation and maintenance of the group. One of the five students must be willing to serve as the primary contact person.
2. To register a new student organization, one of the five students will need to start the process through OrgSync, following the instructions below:
a) Go to www.orgsync.com
b) Click on Register
c) Select Central Ohio Technical College & The Ohio State University at Newark
d) Create your personal account
e) After creating your personal account, on your account page, select “Register New Organization” to start the registration process for the new student organization.
The group must contact a member of COTC or Ohio State Newark faculty or staff and ask them to serve as a faculty/staff advisor to the organization. A faculty/staff advisor is needed to be formally recognized by the Office of Student Life.
Qualification Criteria: Advisors of student organizations must be full-time members of the Newark campus Faculty or full-time salaried Staff. If a person serving as an advisor is not a member of one of the above classifications, a qualified member of the campus staff must be chosen as a co-advisor.
3. The organization will write a constitution, which serves as an outline of goals and purposes for the organization. The constitution should include specific procedural rules which are detailed in Composition of a Constitution.
The constitution and OrgSync registration will be reviewed by the Assistant Director of Student Life. Approval confirmation will be sent by email to the student who initiated the registration on OrgSync. A decision on the application will be sent within one week of submission.
