PROCEDURES FOR REQUESTNG AND BEING ASSIGNED A TUTOR
Tutors and Instructors/Teachers cannot and should not suggest to a student that a tutor can tutor him or her if the student asks for a particular tutor when requesting a tutor. ONLY the Tutoring Center Staff can make tutor/tutee assignments!!
The following guidelines/procedures are provided for your information and will be followed by all tutors and students using the services of the Tutoring Center.
1. Go to: http://www.newark.osu.edu/student-life/tutoring/Pages/default.aspx
2. Click on: Tutor Request Form
3. Complete the form entirely by filling in the information requested (college/university email address is required). The more hours of availability you identify the better chances you have of being assigned a tutor (4-6 hours of availability is encouraged).
4. You must be currently enrolled and attending classes in the course for which you are requesting a tutor.
5. You may request a tutor by name in the Special Instruction for Schedule Information: section of the form. However, there is no guarantee that you will be a assigned the tutor you request.
6. This form is downloaded in the Tutoring Center Staff to process your request for a tutor.
7. Assignments of tutors are made on a first come-first served basis.
8. Allow four (4) business days for the Tutoring Center Staff to process your request for a tutor.
9. When all available hours and slots for a tutor are filled the tutor will not be assigned any additional students (tutees) unless students are assigned to be a group session.
10. Tutors will not be assigned more student/tutees per session than our Tutoring Center policy states.
11. Tutors are allowed to work only a certain number of hours per week and no assignments can or will be made when a tutor has reached the maximum allowable hours per week.
12. When one-on-one tutor/tutee assignments cannot be made the Tutoring Center Staff will assign the student to a group session or offer the student an online tutoring opportunity.
13. Students requesting a tutor can choose the option of waiting for a one-on-one tutor assignment or use an online tutor.
14. If a student decides to wait for a one-on-one assignment he or she might never be assigned a tutor unless an opening occurs n a tutor’s schedule.
If you have questions or concern regarding the policies of the Tutoring Center please feel free to ask any of the Tutoring Center Staff for assistance or contact me.
